In this episode we talk about economics. We cover an essay entitled “I, Pencil” by Leonard Read. It’s written from the perspective of a pencil who makes the claim to humans that no single person could make a pencil. That essay takes us into further discussion about economics. We talk about economic methodology comparing empirical and a priori approaches. We compare the different schools of economic thought and then start to dive into the Austrian school and its approach to economics. We talk about building up economic science from the single axiom that man acts. We go through topics including money, wealth creation, prices, business cycle theory, inflation and even a discussion about making sandwiches. Best Shots Chelyabinsk Meteorite! – This YouTube video uploaded by “Alex Grotesq Trailerz – самый лучший канал” edits together some of the best footage of the airburst event over Chelyabinsk. I’d highly recommend checking this out to get a real feel for what these events are like. the moment at 3:44 has great audio of the windows blowing out in the city.
Keep in mind that this airburst was at 14 miles high and was the size of a house. Lower altitude explosions, ground explosions and larger object present even more risk!
Buy “UFOs and the National Security State: Chronology of a Coverup, 1941-1973” on Amazon – A link to the book on Amazon. I found it to be a very useful early history of the UFO phenomenon. Richard does a good job balancing all the sightings and all the government activities in a way that is easy to follow.
You should also follow his YouTube channel. He produces a lot of great content on the topic. I like him because he spends a good amount of time on facts but also isn’t scared to speculate based on his vast knowledge. He’s also very clear about when he’s speculating so he’s a useful follow.

This book really blew me away when I first read it (or, listened to it , I guess.) Diana comes from the world of academia. She’s a professor of Religious Studies at The College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University. She intersected with the UFO topic quite accidentally and this book documents her journey as she meets the pseudonymous “Tyler”, the now public Gary Nolan and UFO reasearch pioneer Jacques Vallée. You can feel her attitude on the subject start to slowly change as the book goes on. It’s must read if you’d like your perpective on the UFO phenomenon widened.

I just finished listening to Diana’s follow-up to American Cosmic. In this book Diana seems to have as her overall goal to expand the view of the UFO phenomenon from the classic “aliens visiting from another planet” theory. She talks to some of the same characters from American Cosmic as well as some new additions. I found this book to be really inspiring and refreshing. Please give it a read and support her amazing work
